Valentin „Vlvl“ Lutset
Valentin „Velvel“ Lutset wurde in Legnica, Polen, geboren, wuchs in Sankt Petersburg auf und lebt seit 2011 in Berlin. Nach seinem Studium im Kommunikationsdesign arbeitete er viele Jahre im kulturellen Bereich, bevor sich sein Fokus zunehmend auf jüdische informelle Bildung, künstlerische Forschung und Community-Arbeit verlagerte. Er initiiert und kuratiert Formate zu jüdischer Identität, Erinnerungskultur und gesellschaftlichem Dialog. Als Musiker und Klangkünstler verbindet er Ritual, Klang, visuelle Sprache und spirituelle Praxis mit neuen Formen jüdischen Lernens und Aktivismus.

In this session, we will explore Tarot as a symbolic language rather than a practice of fortune-telling or prophecy. Beginning with a brief introduction to the structure of the 78 cards, we will ask how Tarot can be understood as a spiritual and psychological tool for reflection and orientation.
At the heart of the workshop is Stav Appel’s new book on the Tarot de Marseille, which highlights fascinating parallels between Tarot imagery and Jewish mystical and traditional symbols, including the Hebrew alphabet. Together, we will explore these resonances and consider how symbolic study can open new pathways for Jewish learning, insight, and contemporary meaning-making.
